Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is the most common congenital disorder in newborns, affecting approximately 1 in 100 babies. In September 2018, at four days old our daughter Naya was diagnosed with an incredibly rare type of CHD called Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Drainage (TAPVD). TAPVD affects 1 in 20,000 CHD babies. At 15 days old, our precious angel underwent lifesaving open heart surgery, completely repairing her heart. Because of the incredible staff and facilities at RCH, our daughter will enjoy a full and happy life, but this is not always the case for many other ‘heartkids’. Some children require multiple operations, often extending their life but not completely repairing their condition. Through Naya’s journey we are inspired to give back to the hospital that gifted us our daughter’s life; a gift we can never truly repay. By supporting our cause, you will be contributing to a three-year sponsorship of a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit bed in the Rosella Ward at RCH, the same bed that Naya spent the first five weeks of her life in. Thank you for your kind generosity.
